Established nearly 20 years ago by Yaping Jiang, New Star Art has nurtured countless young talents. Jiang’s vision, born from her experience at the Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts and RMIT, is to see art germinate, flower, and fruit in the hearts of her students. New Star Art’s faculty is a tapestry of diverse artistic backgrounds. John McCallum, with 40 years of experience under his belt, weaves captivating stories into his drawing lessons. He’s learned from Australian art giants like Alan Martin and Ron Reynolds. Vera, a graduate of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, finds joy in igniting creative sparks in her students. Sha, with a background from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, encourages students to explore their mental landscapes through diverse materials. Krystal, pursuing her master’s degree in education at Deakin University, believes passion is the key to unlocking artistic potential. Sukyi Chin, a Malaysian artist with a design background, strives to make learning fun. Wenli, currently studying at Monash University, sees art as a vehicle for building self-esteem. Tammy, a New Star Art alumna and RMIT graduate, brings her love for children and drawing to her teaching. Yau-Onn Chong, another RMIT graduate, emphasizes nurturing students’ full potential. Katherine Addison, from a family of artists, champions creative learning. Kristy Tang, a graduate of Shanghai Normal University, guides her students on a journey of discovering, feeling, and creating beauty. Lily Zhang, an enthusiast of painting and handmade art, encourages creativity and imagination. Ting, an RMIT Fine Art graduate, fosters self-expression through individual brushstrokes.
