Founded in 1992 New Light Christian Church stands proudly in Seattle. It began its journey in the Central District meeting at Washington Middle School. Pastor Rick B Danner Sr had a vision. He envisioned a multi-ethnic inner-city church. This church would offer strong Bible-based teaching. It would provide fellowship healing and restoration. The church aimed to meet spiritual emotional and physical needs. After two and a half years at The Union Gospel Outreach Center New Light found its own building. Now located at 4620 South Findlay Street it serves the community.
The church’s mission is clear. It aims to make disciples of Jesus Christ. It teaches them to obey His commandments. This reflects Matthew 28:18-20. Their vision is equally ambitious. New Light strives to be a multi-ethnic inner-city church. It seeks to glorify God. The church wants spiritual maturity and unity. Ultimately it aims to change lives through the gospel of Jesus Christ. This echoes Acts 26:19.
New Light isn’t just a Sunday morning gathering. It offers Sunday School at 9:45 am followed by worship at 11:00 am. A children’s church follows at noon. The church boasts a vibrant leadership team. Pastor Danner and First Lady Carol Danner lead the congregation. Elders John King Thomas Poole and Byron Williams provide guidance. Trustees Sharon Jack Bob Mills and Pinkey Warner oversee the church’s financial and administrative affairs. Dedicated ministry leaders serve children youth women men and couples. Myra Stallworth leads the music ministry adding a musical dimension to the services.
The atmosphere is a blend of traditional and contemporary worship. Communion and congregational readings are regular parts of the service. The casual dress code makes everyone feel welcome. Printed bulletins guide attendees. Altar calls provide opportunities for personal reflection and commitment. This welcoming inclusive atmosphere reflects the church’s commitment to serving all. New Light emphasizes community. Weekly small groups foster deeper connections and support. The church actively engages in outreach to the surrounding community. It reflects a commitment to its mission. This commitment is to make a difference in people’s lives both spiritually and practically.
New Light Christian Church is more than a building. It’s a testament to faith community and service. It’s a place where lives are transformed. It is a beacon of hope in the heart of Seattle. It stands as a living example of its mission and vision.
