New Hope Christian Center

In 1972, a seed of faith was planted in Vernon Hills, the seed that would blossom into the New Hope Christian Center. Originally named Century Assembly of God, the church’s name reflected the New Century Town development. Reverend Larry Newton, the founding pastor, answered the call to establish this new spiritual home. Picture the early days: Village community centers, school cafeterias, even a repurposed restaurant and bar serving as Sunday school classrooms. These humble spaces were filled with the spirit and energy of a growing congregation. New Hope Christian Center thrived. The church embarked on two building campaigns, each one a testament to the expanding community. This journey led them to the very location where they worship today. Sadly, in 2001, Pastor Newton suffered a stroke, forcing him to step down after nearly thirty years of dedicated service to the New Hope Christian Center. A new chapter began in 2002. Reverend Aaron Malusky and his wife, Sarah, answered the call to lead the New Hope Christian Center. Under their guidance, membership tripled. New ministries emerged and a renewed sense of purpose filled the church. In 2005, the congregation felt a growing need to rename the church. A name that better reflected their identity. After months of suggestions, prayers, and committee meetings, a vote was held. On October 9, 2005, Century Assembly of God officially became New Hope Christian Fellowship. For over four decades, New Hope Christian Center has faithfully served its community. They continue to live out their mission: “to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.”
