New City is a community of faith. It started in a living room and is quickly growing. New City wants to create space for anyone to encounter Jesus. It is a place to find a people to belong to. It is a place to become who God created them to be.
Justin Smith is the lead pastor. He moved with his family to Austin in 2023 to start New City. New City has an incredible team. This team loves people so well.
New City believes in the Bible’s unified story. It tells of God’s revelation of himself to humanity. It is the true story of the world’s creation. It tells of redemption and restoration through Jesus Christ. New City affirms the Bible’s divine inspiration. It affirms its truthfulness. It affirms its authority as the written word of God. It believes that it is without error. It is the only infallible source of faith and practice. Disciples of Jesus immerse themselves in the Scriptures. They use lifelong meditation. This shapes our identity. It shapes our purpose. It shapes our activity in this world.
New City believes in one God. This God exists in three persons. These are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The uniqueness of the Christian faith is in our shared confession. It is a confession of God’s trinitarian nature. The Father, Son, and Spirit are distinct persons. They have no division of nature. They have no division of essence or being. Each is fully God. They are co-existent. They are coequal. They are co-eternal.
New City believes in God the Father. He is the creator of heaven and earth. He created out of his great love. He created for his own glory. He continues to govern and care for the world. He does this in his goodness and power.
New City believes in the Son. This is Jesus Christ. He is the image of the invisible God. He is the eternal Word made flesh. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was born of the Virgin Mary. He is the only Savior for the sins of the world. He accomplishes our salvation. He does this through his perfect and vicarious life. He does this through his death and resurrection. After his resurrection, he ascended to the right hand of the Father. There he rules as King. He intercedes for his people. He will return to complete the renewal of all creation.
New City believes in the Holy Spirit. He is eternally one with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world concerning sin. He convicts the world concerning righteousness and judgment. He is the divine agent. Through him believers are brought into the Kingdom of God. The Spirit is God’s empowering presence. He calls. He indwells. He transforms. He sanctifies. He guides. He teaches. He gifts. He equips. He enables believers to enjoy communion with God.
New City believes that God made humanity. He made both male and female. He made them in his own image. He made them as the crown of his creation. He created humanity for loving communion with himself. He created humanity for community with one another. He gave them the privilege. He gave them the responsibility of serving as his representatives. They lovingly care for. They rule over all of creation. Because they are created in the image of God. Each human being has immense dignity and value. Each is worthy of respect, honor, and love.
Remember, New Foundation Christian Church is more than just a building. It is a community. It is a place to grow in faith. It is a place where everyone is welcome.
