How about a stroll through a green sanctuary? Welcome to Neşet Suyu Nature Park. This park is a peaceful escape from Istanbul’s busy life. It is named for Professor Neşet Bey. He was a respected figure in forestry.

Neşet Suyu Nature Park sits in the Sarıyer district. It is near Bahçeköy neighborhood. The park covers 67.47 hectares. That is about 166.7 acres. Neşet Suyu Nature Park was established in 2011. It is one of nine nature parks inside the Belgrad Forest.

Professor Neşet Bey was born in 1881. He taught at the Forestry Faculty of Istanbul University. He also served as its rector. His colleagues and students greatly respected him. In 1953, a memorial inscription was erected in his honor. You can find it inside the nature park.

In the southwest of Neşet Suyu Nature Park is the Büyük Bent. It means Big Dam. This dam is on the Kırkçeşme water canal. Also, remains of a cistern and an open-air prayer place exist. These are protected cultural heritage sites within the park.

Once upon a time, the soil here became hard. It threatened the trees. So, in 2000, earth movers loosened the soil. The park was closed for picnics until 2005. This helped the vegetation recover.

Neşet Suyu Nature Park has rich flora. Oak and European hornbeam trees dominate. Various shrubs and bushes also grow here.

Many animals live in Belgrad Forest. Wild boar, golden jackal, and deer roam here. You might spot a fox, wolf, or weasel. Hares and squirrels are common. Tortoises and hedgehogs also live here. Birdwatchers can see falcons and hawks. Magpies, crows, and woodpeckers fly around. Sparrows, finches, and goldfinches are also present.

Neşet Suyu Nature Park offers walking and jogging trails. They suit all fitness levels. These trails wind through the forest. They offer views of oak, beech, and chestnut trees. It is a haven for nature lovers.

Imagine picnicking in designated areas. Enjoy tables and barbecue spots. Children can play in open spaces. Neşet Suyu Nature Park blends history and nature. It creates a memorable experience for everyone. Come and discover the beauty of Neşet Suyu Nature Park. Take a break from the city. Enjoy the peace and quiet.
