What began as a small school between two educational giants is now the National College of Business and Arts. Established in 1967 to 1968 the National College of Business and Arts NCBA started small. It was located at the corner of R Papa and Lepanto streets in Sampaloc Manila. The University of the East and Far Eastern University surrounded it.
Dr Doroteo S Pasion founded the National College of Business and Arts. He was a well known educator. He was the former dean of commerce of San Beda College. Others who shared Pasion’s vision joined him. They were Col Rafael Q Yap-Diangco Atty Jose R Torres Jr Mrs Gloria C Meñez and Mrs Lourdes L Sarabia.
NCBA focused on specialized education. It grew steadily. From its humble beginnings on R Papa Street the National College of Business and Arts expanded. It added academic programs and facilities.
In 1968 NCBA offered limited courses. These included Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts. It also offered a two year course in Secretarial Administration and a CPA review. The NCBA High School opened in 1973 to 1974. Short terminal courses followed in 1974 to 1975. These courses covered Cooperative Salesmanship Bookkeeping and Accounting and Small Business Management.
Today the National College of Business and Arts has three campuses. They are in Cubao Fairview and Taytay. It offers programs from preparatory school to graduate education. NCBA aims to provide complete education to young men and women. It seeks to equip them with skills to become responsible citizens.
In January 2010 Cesar C Meñez became the school president. Edwin P Torres became the vice president for finance. In 2016 Atty Concepcion Nancy T Pasion became the next president.
NCBA celebrated its 50th anniversary in February 2017. The new slogan was Vision and Mission. The National College of Business and Arts athletic teams are called the Wildcats. They compete in various sports. These include basketball volleyball and badminton. The National College of Business and Arts is a founder of the UCLAA. This is the Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association.
Notable alumni include Coco Martin and Rick Stryker. Coco Martin is an actor. Rick Stryker is a coliseum announcer. The National College of Business and Arts continues to uphold its motto. It aims to educate globally competitive Filipinos. It provides quality education and prepares students for future success. The National College of Business and Arts has a rich history and a bright future.
