Before the Gippsland railway line existed, the Narre Warren township was located in what is now Narre Warren North District. The construction of the Narre Warren railway station shifted the township south. This shift also impacted other townships like Upper Beaconsfield and Clyde North. This history is reflected in the naming of the post offices. The Narre Warren Post Office opened in 1869. It was renamed Narre Warren North in 1900. The Narre Warren Railway Station office, open since 1886, became simply Narre Warren. Today, Narre Warren North District is a dynamic area, constantly evolving and growing. The district is home to the Berwick City Soccer Club, who play at the Jack Thomas Reserve. The Narre Warren North Foxes Football Club, a junior team, trains and plays at the Narre Warren North Recreation Reserve on Belgrave-Hallam Road. The name “Narre Warren” comes from an Aboriginal term meaning “small hills”. The Bunurong/Boonwurrung Peoples were the original inhabitants of the area. Now, it’s home to Aboriginal people from all over Australia. Narre Warren North District’s electorate office is located in the Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre.
