Before the Gippsland railway line existed, the Narre Warren township was located in what is now Narre Warren North District. This history is reflected in the naming of the post offices. The Narre Warren Post Office opened in 1869. It was renamed Narre Warren North in 1900. The name “Narre Warren” comes from an Aboriginal term meaning “small hills”. The Bunurong/Boonwurrung Peoples were the original inhabitants of the area. Now, it’s home to Aboriginal people from all over Australia. Narre Warren North District’s electorate office is located in the Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre.
