Overlooking the bustling city of Taipei, Nanshan Fude Temple stands as a beacon of peace and spirituality. This temple, also known as Hongludi, isn’t your typical place of worship. It’s a place where ancient beliefs intertwine with breathtaking views, offering a unique experience for both the devout and the curious. Nanshan Fude Temple was built centuries ago by Zhangzhou immigrants, who sought to safeguard their new home. They chose this specific location, on the slopes of Nanshijiao Mountain, for a reason. The two peaks flanking the temple resemble a traditional stove, giving the temple its nickname, “stove land.” But there’s more to this temple than its strategic location. It’s also home to the largest Earth God statue in all of Taiwan, a sight that inspires awe in all who visit. Legend has it that touching the shiny ingot held by the Earth God brings prosperity and good luck. It’s no wonder that Nanshan Fude Temple is considered one of the most popular Earth God Temples for wealth-wishing in northern Taiwan! But Nanshan Fude Temple isn’t just about seeking fortune. It’s also a place of incredible natural beauty. As you ascend the stone stairs, you’re treated to panoramic views of the Taipei skyline, with the majestic Taipei 101 piercing the horizon. The temple is a popular spot for watching the sunset, its golden light painting the city in hues of orange and purple.
