Slipping and sliding, the narrow bridge swayed beneath our feet. We’re here at Nahal Katia, crossing one of the famous hanging bridges of Nesher Park. Nahal Katia is more than just a pretty view. This dry riverbed carves its way through the landscape, a testament to the power of winter rains. Now, imagine yourself back in time, before the park, before the bridges. Nahal Katia was a hidden gem, a natural wonder waiting to be discovered. Today, these seventy-meter long steel cable bridges offer a unique perspective. They span high above Nahal Katia, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the lush greenery below. The bridges are part of a larger network of trails. You can explore the dense thickets, wander through native oak and terebinth trees, and even discover a prehistoric cave tucked away in the hillside. Remember to take your time crossing the bridges. They can be a bit slippery. And each bridge has a maximum capacity of fifty people. So, savor the experience, take in the view, and appreciate the natural beauty of Nahal Katia and Nesher Park. The easy trail to the bridges and back is about 1.7 kilometers. But if you’re feeling adventurous, take the challenging trail. It’s a 2.2-kilometer loop that takes you down to the dry riverbed, through the forest, and finally to the hanging bridges. As you leave Nahal Katia, remember the thrill of the swaying bridge. Remember the quiet beauty of the surrounding forest. And remember the story of this hidden gem, brought to life by the ingenuity of KKL and the Nesher Municipality.
