What if a bookshop birthed a church? Right here at My Saviour’s Church, that’s exactly what happened. My Saviour’s Church has a unique and fascinating history. It began in 2004 as Acts Centre. It was an extension of St. Andrew’s Cathedral. This wasn’t your typical church building. Instead, they started worshipping in Acts Lifestyle Book Shop. Can you picture it? Sermons amongst the shelves, hymns echoing among the literature. Over the years, My Saviour’s Church moved from place to place. They held services in St. Margaret’s Secondary School’s Performing Arts Studio. They even used the SPRING Singapore Auditorium. Imagine the congregation, their faith unwavering, adapting to each new environment. Finally, in 2016, My Saviour’s Church found a permanent home. They held their first service here on Palm Sunday. This marked a significant moment in their journey. In 2020, another transformation took place. Acts Centre officially merged with the existing English Fellowship at My Saviour’s Church. They were inaugurated as the new English Congregation of My Saviour’s Church on August 9th. This solidified their place within the Anglican Diocese of Singapore. My Saviour’s Church continues to grow and evolve. It’s a testament to the dedication and perseverance of its congregation. They started in a bookshop and now thrive in this beautiful church. Their journey reminds us that faith can flourish anywhere. It’s a story of resilience, community, and finding a spiritual home.
