“A sanctuary of peace,” I overheard a passerby whisper about Musholla Nurul Amin. Here before us stands a testament to faith. It is a place of worship in the heart of Jakarta. This is not just any prayer space. Musholla Nurul Amin carries within its walls a story of resilience and adaptation.
Once a simple Surau Panggung existed here. This humble structure built around the 1920s served the community. H Muhammad bin H Mugheni erected it on land belonging to Hj Mudjenah. Imagine it a modest space. It provided solace and spiritual guidance.
Fast forward to July 1968. A pivotal decision was made. The Surau would be relocated and renamed Musholla Al-Amin. This marked a new chapter. H Asnawi bin H Thamrin donated land for this purpose. The community rallied together.
In August 1968 the construction began. Key figures like Jusuf Djohan and H Fadhil bin Thabrani spearheaded the project. Prominent figures laid the first stones. KH Rahmatullah Siddiq and Drs Zaenuddin were among them. By December 1968, the Musholla Al-Amin opened its doors. It became a center for prayer and community activities.
Time marched on. After 26 years, the community decided to renovate the Musholla extensively in 1994. This enhanced the prayer space. A front pendopo was added in 2012.
Throughout the years, dedicated individuals led the Musholla. H Muhammad bin H Mugheni to Ahmad Zarkasih bin H Makmun each contributed. They shaped the Musholla’s identity.
Today the Musholla Nurul Amin stands as a symbol of unity. It is a beacon of faith in Sukabumi Utara. It is a reminder of the community’s unwavering commitment to spirituality.
