“Can you hear it?” The call to prayer echoes softly. It invites us to reflect at Mushola Al Jihad. This house of worship stands as a testament to faith and community. It has a story of humble beginnings and determined growth.
Mushola Al Jihad started small. In 1991, local Muslims needed a place to pray. They began holding Tarawih prayers in an empty house. This was during Ramadan. The house belonged to Bapak Fahrurrozi. This simple act sparked a dream. The dream was to create a permanent place for worship.
Early pioneers like H Burhanudin and H Dalwani worked hard. They secured a strategic plot of land. Others were already using it for non-Muslim activities. The pioneers negotiated respectfully. Finally, an agreement was reached with the help of H Yasin. The land was cleared for a mushola.
Construction began in 1991. Residents funded it themselves. H Syarif Biyanto and Bp Agus were especially helpful. Within seven months, the Mushola Al Jihad was complete. The name “Al Jihad” was chosen carefully. It represented the spirit of striving for Allah. It showed devotion within the community.
Initially, Mushola Al Jihad served as a simple prayer space. It became a center for religious education. Children learned and grew there. Over time, the community expanded. Figures like Hani Sahwan and Amrullah AK joined the leadership.
By 1998, the community had outgrown the mushola. They decided to upgrade it to a mosque. With the help of all the Muslim residents, the Mushola Al Jihad became Masjid Al Jihad. The mosque has been renovated several times since then. It has evolved into what you see today.
Masjid Al Jihad stands as a symbol of unity. It is a place of worship. It is a testament to community spirit. Its history reflects the dedication of those who built it. They transformed a small prayer gathering into a thriving center of faith. It stands tall in Jakarta.
