Josephine (Butler) Gooch played a vital role. They sold land for the church. They also sold land for this very burial ground.
The earliest marked grave dates back to 1880. Among those interred are veterans. They served in conflicts dating back to the Civil War. These brave souls found their final resting place here.

The church was active for many years. But in 1947, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church disbanded. By 1950, this cemetery ceased to be an active burial site.
