Originally themed after the 1997 film Batman & Robin the ride underwent a transformation. In 2012 it became Mr Freeze Reverse Blast. Riders experienced the thrill backward. Then in 2022 the ride went back to its original forward direction. But there’s a twist. Currently one train launches forward the other backward. A unique dual experience.
The queue is a journey in itself. At Six Flags Over Texas you enter Snowy’s Cones. Imagine passing under a giant ice cream cone. The indoor queue is like a derelict ice cream factory. You see mixers flavor containers. Walls are covered in spray paint. There’s even an outdoor section with switchbacks. This offers a glimpse of the Six Flags & Texas Railroad. The final ramp leads to the upper level. There you see Home Of The Big Freeze. Finally you reach the station. Mr Freeze awaits.
The ride itself is a masterpiece of engineering. You shoot through a tunnel up into a top hat element. It flips you completely upside down. Then comes an overbanked turn a vertical spike. The LIMs give you one final push to the top. Then it’s a freefall back through the course.
Mr Freeze has seen its share of incidents. In 2022 a motor malfunctioned causing a fire. Seven people were hospitalized. Yet the ride reopened a few weeks later. A testament to its resilience.
