In 1923 a man named Enoch Wood saw children playing. He felt called to share the gospel. This led to the founding of Mount Roskill Baptist Church. The church started as a small Sunday school. It was called the “White Swan Sunday School”. It grew and grew. Soon a proper building was needed.

The first Mount Roskill Baptist Church building opened in 1924. Eighty people attended the first evening service. The church was fuelled by a desire to join God’s mission. It also focused on deepening relationships with God and each other. Mount Roskill Baptist Church became a diverse community. People from all backgrounds ages and ethnicities joined. They shared a love for Jesus and a commitment to following Him.

Today Mount Roskill Baptist Church is still thriving. It continues its mission of sharing God’s word. Sunday services start at 10 am and last about an hour and a half. Friendly greeters welcome visitors. They hand out newsletters highlighting church events. The service includes songs prayer Bible readings sermons and reflections. Children’s programs are available for ages 3-12. A creche is available for younger children.

After the service people are welcome to stay for drinks and conversation. Mount Roskill Baptist Church believes in making everyone feel welcome.
