In 1965, a seed of faith was planted in Glendowie as the community began to grow. This seed blossomed into the Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, a place we stand before today. The Redemptorist Priests, arriving from Australia in 1950, initially resided in the original Glendowie homestead next door. This two-storied house served as a temporary chapel until the church building we see now was constructed in 1972. Imagine those early masses held within the walls of that old home. The Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church wasn’t simply built and left to stand alone. A Parish Centre was added in 1991, creating a hub for the growing community. Further extensions in 2008 demonstrate the continued growth and vitality of the Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The parish offices, open from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, are a testament to the active life of this parish. You can reach them at (09) 575 9296. The church has witnessed significant social changes over the past decades, embracing a diverse congregation within its welcoming embrace. The Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith and community, evolving alongside the vibrant Glendowie neighborhood it serves.
