For centuries Morne Jaloux has witnessed significant events. The land records show an estate and building dating back to the early 1700s. At one time this magnificent estate belonged to the Gentle family. They owned several large estates including Woodlands Estate and Mount Parnassus Estate.

The house you see today wasn’t always here. It was built in 1925. Respected architect George E Gentle designed it. He designed it for new owners who purchased the estate in the early 1900s.

But Morne Jaloux’s story is far more than just a grand house. It has served many purposes. It housed Grenada’s leading telecoms provider. It also served as an outpost for an American University Geological Society. Even the Venezuelan embassy was located there. It has truly been a multi-faceted location.

The estate initially was a gift during French occupation. A French commander received it as a prize. He named it Morne Jaloux reflecting the jealousy inspired by its beauty and bounty.
