Mørke Skole

Nestled in the heart of Mørke lies Mørke Skole. This isn’t just any school. It’s a living testament to the community’s commitment to education and growth. One significant change came in 2020 with the inauguration of Mørke Børnehus. This new addition created a comprehensive children’s village on the school grounds. Now children from ages 0 to 16 can learn and grow together in this vibrant hub. Mørke Skole itself caters to around 250 students from 0th to 9th grade. It also houses an SFO (after-school care) and a club, providing a supportive environment for students beyond the classroom. For older students, the Syddjurs Ungdomsskole offers a youth community and club in the Mørke Ungdomsskolehus located on Mosevej 9. Even the school’s job postings reveal its dedication to its students. A 2024 job posting highlighted the search for a teacher with a strong science background. This emphasizes Mørke Skole’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education. It also reveals the importance of collaboration and strong relationships with students. Mørke Skole’s history is deeply intertwined with the community. An archival photo from 1946 shows students and teachers in the schoolyard of the old school building on Skolevej 19, built in 1943. The photo offers a glimpse into the school’s past. It shows the gymnasium in the background and mentions the caretaker, Thorvald, who lived in the attic apartment. Today, this old building houses the Lindegården activity center and the Mørke Egnsarkiv (local archives). Mørke Skole continues to evolve, adapting to the needs of each generation.
