Could a church have two pastors in 100 years? Morgan Park Pentecostal Church actually did. This church, established in the heart of the Morgan Park/Maple Park area, boasts a rich history. It was founded by Robert Sunday, a man who felt a divine call to create a ministry here after relocating from Pensacola, Florida. For an incredible 61 years, Pastor Sunday nurtured this community, his dedication culminating in the construction of a church on Monterey Avenue. His legacy lived on through the church’s growth and prosperity. Following Pastor Sunday’s passing in 1984, a new chapter began with Pastor Fitz Barclay, Jr. taking the helm. His leadership has seen the church’s influence extend across continents, even establishing a domestic violence center nearby. Today, Morgan Park Pentecostal Church continues to thrive, a testament to the enduring power of faith and community.
