This monument, originally placed along Calzada de Tlalpan, now resides here, in front of the National Museum of the Interventions. Its relocation coincided with the construction of the Metro General Anaya station, further cementing Anaya’s name in the city’s landscape. General Anaya began his military career at the young age of 15, joining the insurgency against Spanish rule in 1810. He fought fiercely for Mexico’s independence and later defended against the Spanish again in 1829. By 1830, his unwavering dedication earned him the rank of General. The Monumento General Pedro Mar\u00eda Anaya captures him in his unwavering defiance. He is forever linked to the Battle of Churubusco in 1847, fought on the very grounds where this museum now stands. Facing insurmountable odds, General Anaya led the Mexican Army with unwavering courage and dignity against the invading US forces.
