Can a building truly embody faith? Here at the Monument of Faith Pentecostal Church, the answer seems to be a resounding yes. The Monument of Faith Pentecostal Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the vision and dedication of its founders, Pastor Emeritus Bobby Robertson and his wife, Carol. Their journey began in 1993, a divine call leading them back to Eden to establish a ministry rooted in “old fashioned church” values. Pastor Robertson envisioned a “monument of complete trust, devotion, commitment, loyalty and belief in God.” The former Monument of Faith United Holy Church, gifted by Sister Josephine Richardson, opened its doors on June 6, 1993. The inaugural sermon, “Making Peace with Yesterday,” marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter. The church, affectionately nicknamed “the ‘Ment,” flourished under the leadership of Pastor Bobby, Co-Pastor Carol, and Youth Pastor Lannie Robertson. Its growth soon necessitated a larger space. In 1995, a new vision emerged. Pastor Robertson, with his architectural skills, designed the new sanctuary. Three years later, the groundbreaking ceremony took place, a moment of shared anticipation for the future of the Monument of Faith Pentecostal Church. The new Monument of Faith Pentecostal Church was dedicated on Easter Sunday, 2002. Members marched from the old church to the new one across the street, a symbolic transition. The new building, seating approximately 400, incorporated symbolic elements. The octagonal shape represented the regenerating power of Jesus. The plum/purple colors symbolized humility. A well in the vestibule echoed God’s living water. A mural depicted “no more water but fire next time,” a powerful image of transformation. The dove and the young man embraced by God symbolized God’s boundless love. A stone in the pulpit area represented Jesus as the cornerstone. A tragic fire in 2007 destroyed the old church. Its site is now planned for a fellowship hall, a reminder of the church’s journey. In 2013, Pastor Lannie Robertson took the helm, marking a generational shift in leadership. Pastors Bobby and Carol transitioned to Pastors Emeritus, focusing on expanding the ministry. The Monument of Faith Pentecostal Church continues to stand as a beacon of faith. It embraces its motto, “Touching the Untouchable,” embodying its commitment to community and spiritual growth.
