The cobblestones beneath our feet are still damp with the blood of 147 fédérés, Commune soldiers who made their final stand right here. Imagine their terror as they faced this wall, their backs to the enemy, their dreams of a just and equal society crumbling before their eyes. Their sacrifice, however, was not in vain.
