What if these walls could talk? They would tell the story of Singapore’s education journey. Welcome to the MOE Heritage Centre. This centre showcases Singapore’s Education Story. It covers from the early 19th century to the present.

The MOE Heritage Centre aims to inspire future teachers. It affirms the work of current educators. It also commemorates the contributions of educators. These communities have shaped education since Singapore’s founding.

Originally, the centre was at the former New Town Primary School. This was on Commonwealth Drive. Work began in 2007. A team was set up. It would conduct research and develop a storyline for the galleries.

Gallery development started in 2008. It finished in 2011. The centre operated there until September 2019. It then closed to prepare for relocation. The new location is the former Balestier Hill Primary School site.

The MOE Heritage Centre at Balestier officially opened. Minister for Education Mr Chan Chun Sing did the honors. The opening date was August 30, 2022.

The MOE Heritage Centre is a national museum. It serves as a repository. This repository holds materials showcasing Singapore’s education history.

It’s a popular place for teachers. Aspiring teachers also enjoy it. Educators come to learn about Singapore’s education system. They see how it evolved from the 19th century to today.

The museum first opened to the public on Teacher’s Day. That was September 1, 2011. Since then, it has been an important venue. Teachers and researchers gather here.

The gallery honors the contributions of teachers. These educators have helped shape the country’s education. A centre for professional development is also within.

Highlights include the Heritage Zone. You can also visit the Inspiration Garden. Don’t miss the Upper Floor Galleries. An Outdoor Trail is also available.

So, as you explore the MOE Heritage Centre, remember the dedication. Remember the innovation that built Singapore’s education system. It’s a story of progress. It’s a story of commitment. It’s a story that continues to unfold.
