Gazing at the sprawling expanse before us, we find ourselves at the MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre. This isn’t just any campsite. The MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre, or CCOALC, is a unique place where adventure meets education. Established in 2006, CCOALC has been a hub for schools and organizations seeking transformative experiences. Its coastal location offers a distinctive advantage, allowing for unrestricted water activities that few other campsites can provide. Imagine kayaking in the open sea, the salty spray on your face, as you navigate the waters around the bay. This is a reality for students at the MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre. They push their boundaries, conquer fears, and discover the thrill of sea kayaking.
The MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre has a capacity of 280 participants, housed in eight “Open Kampung Styled” blocks. Each block has its own activity space, promoting a sense of community and collaboration. But the adventure doesn’t stop at the shoreline. CCOALC boasts a two-tier high challenge course, abseil lanes, a zip-line, and both indoor and outdoor rock walls. These facilities provide endless learning opportunities, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and individual growth. In 2014, the high challenge course received upgrades, offering varied difficulty levels to cater to all skill levels.
The MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre continues to evolve. In 2015, an artificial caving system was added. This system provides a safe and controlled environment for students to hone their decision-making skills and teamwork in unique scenarios. The caving experiences are adaptable, catering to different age groups and learning objectives. Think about navigating through the twists and turns of the artificial cave, relying on your teammates to overcome obstacles. This immersive experience fosters critical thinking and strengthens bonds within the group. Beyond these structured activities, the MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre offers a variety of place-based learning opportunities. Students can explore marine life, embark on coastal journeys along the beach, and even try their hand at outdoor cooking. These experiences connect students to the natural environment, fostering appreciation and a deeper understanding of the world around them. From improvised rafting to exploring the coastline, the MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre offers a wealth of enriching experiences that extend far beyond traditional classroom learning. It’s a place where students can challenge themselves, discover their potential, and create lasting memories.
