Why is that bench up there painted in all the colours of the rainbow? You might ask yourself that when you see the Mirador de Sotavento for the first time. The Mirador de Sotavento is a magical place on the southeast coast of Fuerteventura. The viewpoint offers spectacular panoramic views of Sotavento Beach and its lagoon. From this vantage point you can see a sea of blue and green: the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean mix with the golden sand. The lagoon of Sotavento is also easy to see. This is a natural lagoon that forms between the shore and the sandbar. It is ideal for water sports such as windsurfing or kitesurfing. The Mirador de Sotavento is the perfect place to enjoy the view and learn about nature. Take your time to observe every detail of the landscape. Be amazed by the grandeur of the ocean, the beauty of the dunes and the tranquillity of the lagoon. The viewpoint has information boards that explain the formation of the dunes, the importance of the lagoon for migratory birds and the native flora and fauna.
