For nine years, Axel has run the Milchhäusl solo. In 2023, the Milchhäusl underwent renovations. The goal was to add a cellar and elevator for more storage. It also aimed to blend the building more seamlessly into the English Garden. The entire structure was temporarily moved using a crane. It rested on a temporary site during the seven-month project. The Milchhäusl had to maintain its original form, as it is part of the English Garden landmark.
Today, the Milchhäusl offers typical kiosk fare. You can find butter pretzels, organic cola and Hofbräu beer. Enjoy them on rustic beer benches or in cozy hammocks. The menu features “Monaco Franze” inspired dishes. These include Leberkas and Bratwurst. Axel proudly notes that the food is 100 percent organic wherever possible. The Milchhäusl aims to expand its kitchen. Look forward to treats like Kaiserschmarren, steak and more vegetarian options.
The Milchhäusl is almost always open. It only closes on January 1st. In summer, enjoy homemade wine spritzers under the green trees. In winter, warm up with organic mulled wine in repurposed ski gondolas. The Milchhäusl fosters a strong sense of community. Axel has built connections with his diverse clientele over two decades. Locals, tourists, students and families frequent this spot.
Notably, the Milchhäusl is recognized for its regional and fair practices. It sources organic products from certified suppliers. These include Herrmansdorfer Landwerkstätten, Gottschaller Biohofbäckerei and Bio-Milchhof Zierer.
