Within Queen Margaret University, nestled on Level 0 in rooms 76 and 78, lies Media Services. It’s a bit of a hidden gem. Media Services at Queen Margaret University isn’t just a room full of equipment. It’s a hub of creativity and technological innovation. Here, the university supports staff and students with a vast array of audio-visual equipment and services. Think basic AV setup in teaching rooms and then amplify it. Media Services tackles video production, live streaming, and even full-scale event support. They have a TV studio complete with a green screen. They offer audio recording, video conferencing, and support for platforms like Microsoft Teams. Need to record lectures? They’ve got Panopto for that. Want to borrow equipment? They have a lending program for up to 7 days. You can find their equipment list online as a handy PDF. They also provide access to the QMU Media Server. This allows recording of off-air programs and uploading of content. Of course, copyright restrictions apply. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also access to Box of Broadcasts (BoB), an on-demand TV and radio service. Need help or advice? Reach them by calling 0131 474 0000 and asking for Media Services. Alternatively, email the Helpdesk at helpdesk@qmu.ac.uk and log a job. Media Services operates Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. So, next time you’re at QMU, remember the creative powerhouse tucked away on Level 0. Media Services is more than just equipment. It’s a testament to the university’s commitment to innovative learning and communication.
