The school building was originally a Gymnasium in the town of Germering-Unterpfaffenhofen. In 1970, the school was officially named after Max Born. In 1978, Born’s son, Gustav Born, visited the school. He continued to visit the Max-Born-Gymnasium until 2011, inspiring countless students. The Max-Born-Gymnasium annually awards the Max-Born-Medal to students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and contributions to the school.
