Welcome to Mauway in Mandaluyong. This barangay may seem like any other. But it holds stories within its streets. Mauway is a vibrant part of Mandaluyong City. It is located on Luzon Island.

In 2020, the census recorded a population of 25,800 in Mauway. That accounts for about 6.06% of Mandaluyong’s total population. It is a significant piece of the city’s demographic puzzle.

Let’s step back a bit. The story of Mauway is intertwined with Mandaluyong itself. Mandaluyong has evolved over centuries. From Emperor Soledan to Spanish colonization it has seen many changes. Mandaluyong was first a barrio of Santa Ana de Sapa. It was known as San Felipe Neri. In 1841, it became its own town. Later, in 1931, it got the name Mandaluyong.

But what about Mauway itself? Well, in 1903, Mandaluyong was divided into only five original barrios. These were Poblacion, Barangka, Hagdang Bato, Namayan, and Hulo. From these five original barrios evolved 22 sub-barrios, one of which is Mauway.

Over the years, Mauway has seen its population change. In 1990, it had 10,366 residents. By 2020, that number had grown to 25,800. That’s an increase of 15,434 people in 30 years. In 2015, the population was at 29,103. The latest figures show a slight decrease.

Mauway is more than just numbers. It’s a living community. In 2015, there were 7,123 households here. That is an average of 3.66 members per household. The largest age group was 25 to 29-year-olds. The smallest was those 80 and over.

Standing here today, you are surrounded by people. People are the heart of Mauway. They are its story. Each resident contributes to the unique character of this barangay.

Mauway shares borders with other barangays. It is part of the larger Mandaluyong community. Mandaluyong itself is a city of contrasts. It hosts major corporations and humble communities. It has bustling commercial areas and quiet residential streets.

Here in Mauway, you can sense the spirit of Mandaluyong. The spirit is about growth, resilience, and community. It’s a place where history and progress meet. As you explore Mauway, remember its story. The story of a barangay. A barangay that is an integral part of Mandaluyong. Its story continues to unfold with each passing day.
