Seven decades of stories whisper from these walls. Maternity of Mary – St Andrew School stands before you. This isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to faith and education. Founded in 1950 four Benedictine nuns started teaching 150 students. Imagine the classrooms then. Simple perhaps. But filled with the energy of learning. The school grew rapidly. By 1954 it needed more space. Eight new classrooms were added. The number of families soared. Reaching a peak of 733 students in 1962. The nuns remained central to the school until 1971. Then lay teachers took over. In 1989 Maternity of Mary and St Andrew schools merged. Forming the institution we see today. A significant remodel happened in 2010. New ceilings lighting and even a new gym with retractable bleachers were added. This impressive gym boasts high-grade wood flooring. It can even accommodate both full and half-court basketball. Today Maternity of Mary – St Andrew School continues its mission. It provides a Catholic education nurturing the unique gifts of each student. The school offers programs from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. The average class size is small around 16 students. Around 50% of the staff have advanced degrees. This commitment to excellence shows in the school’s accomplishments. It’s fully accredited by the Minnesota Non-Public School Accrediting Association. Maternity of Mary – St Andrew School is more than a school. It is a community. It’s a place where faith academics and community come together. A place where generations of students have learned and grown. A place where the spirit of those early nuns still lingers. A place that continues to thrive. A place worth remembering.
