Its unique dome, once shared by only a handful of mosques, including the iconic A-Tin Mosque in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, has become a model for others across Jakarta. Masjud Jami’ Nurul Huda isn’t just about aesthetics. Its history is intertwined with the community. Established in 1973, its foundation stone was laid by the esteemed KH Abdullah Syafei. Built through the collective efforts of the residents of RW 010 and RW 011, it has become a symbol of unity and devotion. Over time, the community recognized the need for renovations. Concerned about the wear and tear of a 32-year-old structure, they embarked on a rebuilding project. This led to the formation of the Nurul Huda Pulomas Mosque Foundation, a legal entity overseeing the mosque’s management. The mosque’s commitment extends beyond prayer. It hosts various activities, including Ramadan lectures, dawn prayers, communal fast-breaking with orphans and the needy, intensive religious study sessions, and Quran readings after Tarawih prayers. Masjud Jami’ Nurul Huda’s impact is undeniable. Even its presence on YouTube surprised Karsidi, the chairman of the mosque’s foundation. This digital footprint speaks volumes about the mosque’s reach and relevance. Inside the mosque, a large Quran displayed near the Imam’s pulpit becomes the focal point during Tarawih prayers. This visual reminder underscores the mosque’s dedication to religious observance. The mosque’s construction, costing around 5 billion Rupiah, was made possible by contributions from all segments of society, from regular donors to local merchants. The solidarity between the affluent and the less fortunate highlights the mosque’s unifying power. A unique feature within Masjud Jami’ Nurul Huda is the “bare” Quranic verses displayed on teakwood from the Middle East, a gift from a Jakarta bookstore owner. These verses, alongside the grand Quran at the pulpit, create a space of reverence and reflection. Masjud Jami’ Nurul Huda stands as a testament to community spirit, architectural inspiration, and unwavering faith.
