From humble beginnings arose Masjid Timah Al-Huda. Right here before us stands a testament to faith resilience and community. This mosque wasn’t always the grand structure we see today. Its story begins not with soaring minarets but with a small langgar a modest prayer house called Langgar Pak Tua Kiran.

This unassuming langgar in Kampung Pulo served as a spiritual heart for the community. It was here that generations gathered. The history of Masjid Timah Al-Huda is deeply intertwined with the Muhammadiyah movement. In the 1950s this Islamic organization played a vital role in the area’s spiritual landscape. Masjid Al-Huda’s roots are firmly planted in the efforts of early Muhammadiyah members. They toiled tirelessly often carrying Ciliwung River sand on their shoulders to build the mosque’s predecessor Masjid Al-Barkah.

But Masjid Al-Barkah’s story includes conflict. Eventually the Muhammadiyah congregation found themselves forced to leave Masjid Al-Barkah. This wasn’t a violent expulsion but a complex situation born of differing religious interpretations. The departure was a difficult time but not a defeat. Undeterred the Muhammadiyah community sought a new place to worship. They converted a small family wakaf musala into Masjid Al-Hikmah. Unfortunately this too proved inadequate collapsing under the weight of fervent worshippers during Ramadan prayers.

Despite the setbacks the community’s spirit remained unbroken. They pooled resources working hard to acquire a plot of land. On this land a small musala was built. This simple structure became a center of activity. In 1965 after a powerful sermon by Kiai Abdul Halim the musala was officially declared a masjid. Masjid Jami Al-Huda Ranting Muhammadiyah Pulo was born.

Over time this modest masjid grew evolving into the magnificent three-story structure we see today. Masjid Timah Al-Huda stands as a symbol of perseverance and unity built through the selfless contributions of its congregation. It is more than a place of worship. It is a living testament to the enduring spirit of faith and community in Jakarta. The mosque is a place of peace. It is a beacon of hope. It’s a reminder that even from the smallest beginnings great things can emerge. The story of Masjid Timah Al-Huda is a story of unwavering devotion a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
