Beneath the soaring minarets of Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya, a vibrant community thrives. Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya, often called MRBJ, isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a dynamic hub, a testament to the evolving role of a mosque in the 21st century. Built in 1997 by Jaya Real Property, Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya began as a social and public facility. In 2017, it transformed into a Muslim Community Center. This shift reflects MRBJ’s commitment to serving the community beyond prayer. The mosque operates under the Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah creed. It emphasizes inclusivity and avoids political affiliations. Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya welcomes everyone, fostering a sense of unity amongst its diverse congregation.

Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya embraces the concept of “Masjid 5.0”. This encompasses five key pillars: Baitullah (house of God), Baitul Dakwah (house of preaching), Baitul Qur’an (house of the Quran), Baitul Mal (house of wealth), and Baitul Mu’amalah (house of transactions). These pillars underpin MRBJ’s mission to provide holistic services to the community. As Baitullah, the mosque hosts five daily prayers led by Hafiz Imams. Friday prayers draw an impressive 2500 attendees. The mosque also hosts over 60 Islamic study groups monthly in partnership with various Islamic institutions, fulfilling its role as Baitul Dakwah.

Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya’s dedication to Quranic education is evident in its Taman Pembelajaran Qur’an (TPQ). With 670 students and 65 teachers, the TPQ nurtures a new generation of Quran reciters. The Forum Halaqah Qur’an further complements this, offering Quranic learning for all ages. Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya champions inclusivity. It provides access for people with disabilities, not only to worship but also to participate actively in the community. Some even intern at the mosque’s café as baristas.

Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya also plays a vital role as Baitul Mal. It serves around 2200 mustahik (recipients of zakat) across 42 neighborhood units and three sub-districts in South Tangerang. This support includes food security programs, free healthcare, zakat distribution, and qordhul hasan (interest-free loans) for small businesses. The mosque’s commitment extends to providing ongoing educational funding for 200 orphans and underprivileged children. Furthermore, since 2019, MRBJ has facilitated qordhul hasan, supporting approximately 1400 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya’s commitment to community development is further realized through its Baitul Mu’amalah function. The Zona Muamalah houses a multipurpose space and Creative Hub, serving as a venue for meetings and Islamic study groups. It also features a co-working space, food court, fresh market, and café, all managed by the mosque. Beyond its own walls, Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya actively collaborates with other mosques. It serves as a coordinating center for 50 mosques in Bintaro and collaborates with 700 mosques across South Tangerang.

Finally, Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya embodies the principles of an Eco Masjid. It utilizes solar energy, promotes a waste recycling initiative, and implements water-saving practices. Strategically located near two toll roads, Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya has evolved from a simple place of worship. It has become a vibrant center for the community, embodying the spirit of “Masjid 5.0” and enriching the lives of countless individuals.
