A grand prayer echoed from the minarets. It signaled the start of our journey into the heart of Masjid Raya At Taqwa. This mosque, a beacon of faith in Jakarta, has a story as rich as the prayers whispered within its walls. Masjid Raya At Taqwa wasn’t always the grand structure you see before you. It began humbly in 1930 as a small mosque. It was nestled beside the bustling Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu. It served as a spiritual sanctuary for the Muslim community of Pejaten Barat and Pejaten Timur. As the community grew, so did the need for a larger space. Generous locals donated land, expanding the mosque’s footprint. This act of generosity culminated in the inauguration of Masjid Raya At Taqwa in 1997 by the then-governor of Jakarta, Soerjadi Soedirja. For over 25 years, Masjid Raya At Taqwa has continued to serve its community. The mosque diligently manages donations and waqf, ensuring transparency and accountability. Zakat is distributed to those in need. Other donations are used to improve the mosque’s facilities. The goal is always to provide the best possible service to the worshippers. Masjid Raya At Taqwa has a vision. It strives to be a model mosque. It operates on principles of compassion, professionalism, accountability, and transparency. The mosque welcomes feedback. It constantly seeks ways to better serve its community. It stands as a testament to the power of faith and community in Jakarta. Masjid Raya At Taqwa is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to the enduring spirit of the community it serves.
