In 1994, a beacon of faith took root in Mountlake Terrace. This beacon is Masjid Omar Al-Farooq. It serves as the heart of the Muslim Association of Northwest (MANW). Masjid Omar Al-Farooq isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a hub of community service, education, and interfaith dialogue. The MANW, a non-profit organization established in 1995, operates primarily from the Masjid. Their mission extends beyond the Muslim community. They aim to bridge understanding between faiths and provide social services to those in need. Masjid Omar Al-Farooq offers a range of services, from prayer spaces and washing facilities to restrooms and parking. It also provides dedicated facilities for women and is wheelchair accessible. Within its walls, you’ll find a part-time Madrassah. This school offers Islamic education based on the Quran and Sunnah. It caters to a diverse student body, holding classes five days a week. The Masjid is led by Mufti Abdul Mujeeb Nadwi, the Principal Imam and Masjid Amir, and Imam Umar Holdridge, the Outreach Director. Masjid Omar Al-Farooq stands as a testament to the vibrant Muslim community in the Northwest. It’s a place where faith, education, and community converge.
