A joint decree in 1975 involved three ministers. They were the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Education and Culture, and the Minister of Home Affairs. This decree led to the establishment of MTsN 8 Jakarta. It was originally Pendidikan Guru Agama 4 Tahun. It was located in West Jakarta. In 1978 it officially became MTsN 8 Jakarta.
