“Reimagine mosque design.” That’s what architects Dave Orlando and Fandy Gunawan did with Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin. Unlike typical mosques this one stands out. It also blends in with nature.

Welcome to Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin. This unique building serves the community. It acts as a memorial to the 2018 tsunami. It also symbolizes the city’s growth. The client wanted a beautiful reconstruction. They also wanted a cultural hub.

Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin has two buildings. One is the prayer hall. The other houses utility rooms. The prayer hall has three entrances. One is for the imam. The others are for male and female worshippers.

Notice the materials. The mosque uses concrete and bricks. Blue terrazzo adds a touch of color. The architects used modest Islamic ornamentation. Look for the 99 names of God. They are laser-cut into the steel air vents.

Water surrounds Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin. It gives the illusion that it floats. The architects favored the water concept. It teaches harmony with our environment.

Inside the prayer hall 30 pillars support the ceiling. Vaulting adds an ornamental touch. The building has no windows. Ventilation provides air flow. This design choice minimizes maintenance.

Worshippers face the Mihrab. Natural light seeps through a slit. It creates a beam on the floor. This orients them towards Mecca.

The floor is terrazzo. Its smooth surface creates a seamless appearance. The blue color blends with the ocean. It resembles eternal prayer.

Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin opened in 2002. It is a public mosque. It stands on Jalan Anggrek. The land area is 750 square meters. The building covers 850 square meters.

More than 200 people worship here. Eight muezzins call to prayer. Six khatibs deliver sermons. Around 150 young people participate.

Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin aims to be a sanctuary. It is a place for reflection. It offers spiritual solace connected to nature. The mosque was conceived with good intentions. It was built with peace at its heart.

Consider the design as you leave. Masjid Jami’ Nurul Yaqin is not just a building. It is a symbol of resilience. It embodies harmony and peace. It is a space for community and contemplation.
