“A wish for a blessed ending,” whispered an elderly man beside me, his eyes fixed on Masjid Jami’ Husnul Khotimah. “Husnul Khotimah,” he repeated, the name echoing the mosque’s very purpose. Masjid Jami’ Husnul Khotimah isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to hope, a beacon of faith nestled in the heart of Pela Mampang, Jakarta Selatan. Masjid Jami’ Husnul Khotimah’s story began long before its official inauguration on December 29, 1996. The whispers tell of Rhoma Irama, the King of Dangdut, whose influence helped shape this sacred space. Some even call it “Masjid Rhoma Irama,” a tribute to his contributions. The mosque’s grandeur is undeniable. Its towering minaret and central dome, inspired by Ottoman Turkish architecture, blend seamlessly with modern elements. The star-patterned roster adds a touch of Islamic artistry. Inside, the two-story structure reveals a practical design. The first floor serves as a multipurpose hall, while the second floor houses the main prayer area. The prayer hall is bathed in the soft glow of a magnificent chandelier, its 40 lights arranged in a symbolic pattern of 4-8-12-16. Seventeen glass panels, separated by calligraphy spelling “Allah,” adorn the dome’s lower walls, perhaps a nod to the 17 raka’at of daily prayers. The mihrab, a double alcove, provides a space for the imam and the muezzin. Masjid Jami’ Husnul Khotimah has witnessed moments of political significance. It was here that Sandiaga Uno, the vice presidential candidate, met with Rhoma Irama for Friday prayers, a convergence of faith and politics. More than just bricks and mortar, Masjid Jami’ Husnul Khotimah embodies the dreams of every Muslim: to end their journey in the best possible way, to achieve Husnul Khotimah.
