Dedicated to a beloved figure Masjid Jami’ At-Taufiq stands as more than just a place of worship. It embodies memory community and architectural significance. Let’s delve into the story of this unique mosque.

Masjid At-Taufiq’s story begins with Megawati Soekarnoputri. She wanted to honor her late husband Taufiq Kiemas. This vision led to the creation of a mosque that serves both the community and party members.

Puan Maharani Megawati’s daughter brought this vision to life. The first stone was laid in June 2018. Construction finished in July 2020. The mosque’s inauguration was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Masjid At-Taufiq sits on land that once housed the PDI Perjuangan party office. The building was repurposed into a party school. Cadres from all over Indonesia attend. Most of these cadres are Muslim. The existing musala proved inadequate. Megawati conceived the idea to provide a proper place for worship.

President Joko Widodo attended the inauguration of Masjid At-Taufiq. Notable figures like Ahmad Basarah Pratikno and Tri Rismaharini were also present. Religious leaders such as Syafruddin and K.H. Nasaruddin Umar also attended. Megawati requested Jokowi to pray for Taufiq Kiemas at the mosque.

Masjid At-Taufiq isn’t just for prayer. It’s designed for social activities too. Megawati envisioned it as a center for promoting Pancasila the Indonesian state ideology. The mosque reflects Indonesian identity through its artistic design.

The mosque’s architecture draws inspiration from Minangkabau traditions. This is a nod to Taufiq Kiemas’ Minang heritage. Megawati also has Minang lineage through her mother Fatmawati. The design evokes the Rumah Gadang traditional Minang house.

Architecturally Masjid At-Taufiq showcases a distinctive towering roof. This design reflects Indonesian archipelago architecture. Islamic ornaments adorn the facade. These ornaments feature the 99 names of Allah Asmaul Husna. Skylights provide natural lighting. The interior design incorporates filigree ornaments which also function as natural ventilation. The mihrab area uses black material. This reflects the black stone in the Kaaba Hajar Aswad. Spotlights create unique shadow patterns at night enhancing its beauty.

The spatial zoning follows the Hablum Minannas Hablum Minallah philosophy. This emphasizes the relationship between humans and God. The first floor includes an ablution area toilets an auditorium and a management room. The auditorium hosts parties wedding receptions seminars and inter-religious discussions. It also serves as an extension of the prayer area during peak times. The second floor is the main prayer hall. Its towering roof symbolizes the greatness of the Creator.

Landscape design includes a staircase that provides access to the prayer room. It also functions as an amphitheater. This outdoor space is for discussions relaxation and shelter.

Spanning 1800 square meters Masjid At-Taufiq can accommodate 400 to 500 worshippers. Its strategic location in a densely populated area makes it vital to the community. It serves as a center for religious social and cultural activities.

Masjid At-Taufiq stands as a testament to memory community and architectural fusion. It combines Nusantara elements with modern design. This creates a space that is both functional and beautiful.
