In June 1973, the seeds of Masjid Jami’ Asy-Syaakiriin were sown. A small structure measuring 10 meters by 7 meters marked its humble origin. It was located in what is now known as the Kavling Pondok Bambu complex. By November 1973, the initial construction was complete. The first Friday prayer took place there.
The mosque’s role expanded beyond just a place of prayer. August 6, 1974, marked the beginning of religious education activities. These classes nurtured future generations steeped in Islamic values. Masjid Asy-Syaakiriin underwent a complete renovation. The first phase was inaugurated in 1977 by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Letjen Purn. TNI Tjokro Pranolo.
For over 35 years, Masjid Jami’ Asy-Syaakiriin experienced significant growth. Its congregation steadily increased. Today, the mosque boasts a large green dome, a striking landmark. This dome is a half-sphere made of concrete. A rather tall minaret stands proudly. It serves a dual purpose as a cell tower. The complex includes a two-story building housing a TK Islam. It is a kindergarten for Muslim children.
