The triangular minaret pierces the sky. That’s Masjid Jami Al-Jihad in Ciputat. It’s a striking sight isn’t it?

Masjid Jami Al-Jihad isn’t just any mosque. It’s the oldest mosque in South Tangerang. Its history stretches back to 1930. It began as a small surau. Over time it grew. A major renovation in 2008 transformed it into the magnificent structure you see today.

Architect Ramzi Nasrun designed the renovation. He imbued the mosque with unique features. The triangular minaret symbolizes the core tenets of Islam: Iman Islam and Ihsan. The black mihrab designed to resemble the Kaaba in Mecca. Prayer here feels like praying in Mecca itself.

The windows are unlike any you’ll find in other Indonesian mosques. Ramzi found similar patterns only in Morocco. The massive main doors are another marvel. They stand 5 to 7 meters tall. They are 5 meters wide. The heavy Javanese teak wood was specially ordered. The custom-made hinges were needed to support these colossal doors.

The mosque’s name Al-Jihad itself reflects its history. It represents the struggle and dedication of the community. They built and rebuilt this place of worship. Their efforts transformed a small surau into a vibrant center of faith and community. Today Masjid Jami Al-Jihad stands as a testament to their enduring spirit. It continues to serve the community. It offers more than just prayer. It offers a sense of belonging.

So take a moment to appreciate the architectural details. Imagine the stories held within these walls. Masjid Jami Al-Jihad isn’t just a building. It’s a living history. It’s a symbol of faith and community. It’s a place where generations have found solace and strength.
