“Not a stone remains unless someone cares.” Here we are at Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlas in Jakarta. It stands as a testament to faith and community. It is a beacon of Islamic culture.

The story of Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlas began in 1967. Some neighborhood figures met to discuss building a mosque. These figures came from housing complexes in Cipete. They wanted a center for Islamic preaching. They also wanted a place to share the Islamic religion.

The idea grew over time. Thirty-five founding figures were determined. H.D. Dachlan said that they did door-to-door outreach. People in Cipete were excited about the idea. H.MA. Husein said the idea for the Al Ikhlas prayer room came during Tarawih prayers. These prayers happened in different homes.

Nine years later, the Al Ikhlas prayer room became a reality. It then became Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlas. Construction took place from 1976 to 1979. The mosque was built with help from donors and worshipers. Buya H. Amirudin Siregar led the YMAI from 1975 to 1987.

The founders of the Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas or YMAI numbered 35. Their names are in the YMAI’s founding charter. Some notable names include Tuan Haji Ibrahim and Nyonya Soengkono. Also Nyonya Karim Halim and Tuan Harris are listed.

YMAI was founded on April 11, 1967. The deed was notarized by R. Soerojo Wongsowidjojo, SH. It has been amended several times. The latest amendment was in 2004.

Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlas is located on Jl. Cipete 3 No. 3 in South Jakarta. The mosque is quite large. It can hold 1,500 worshipers. The ground floor is a hall. It is used for community activities. The prayer area is on the second floor. It has additional areas on the south and east sides.

Near Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlas are educational buildings. There is the KB/TK Islam Al Ikhlas school. Also the SD and SMP Islam Al Ikhlas schools are nearby. A shop run by the Koperasi Syariah Ikhlas Sejahtera is also present. It sells groceries and school supplies.

Masjid Jami’ Al-Ikhlas is more than just a building. It is a symbol of unity. It is a center for worship. It is a testament to the power of community. Remember its story. Remember the dedication of those 35 founders. It is a place where faith and community intertwine.
