“A center for preaching.” Imagine those words echoing in the minds of Cipete residents back in 1967. That’s where our story of Masjid Jami Al Ikhlas begins.
Masjid Jami Al Ikhlas wasn’t just built. It was envisioned. A group of leaders from housing complexes in Cipete wanted a place for Islamic preaching. They desired a mosque for communal prayers. This dream fueled the foundation of what stands before you today.
Thirty-five determined figures spearheaded this initiative. One resident recalled their tireless door-to-door efforts. Their dedication resonated within the community. A suggestion came about during Tarawih prayers from house to house. It was to create Mushala Al Ikhlas.
Nine years later, between 1976 and 1979, their vision materialized. Mushala Al Ikhlas became Masjid Al Ikhlas. Generous contributions made this possible. Buya H. Amirudin Siregar led the Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas YMAI during this period.
The founders of Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas numbered thirty-five. Their names are recorded in the YMAI’s deed and statutes. These names represent the dedication of the community.
Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas was established on April 11, 1967. The foundation is based on Notary Deed. The location of Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas is on Jl. Cipete 3 No. 3.
Masjid Al Ikhlas is quite spacious in Cipete. It covers 4,500 square meters. The two-story building can accommodate 1,500 worshipers. The ground floor serves as a hall. It hosts educational activities. The prayer room is on the second floor. Additional areas on the south and east sides enhance its capacity.
The complex includes school buildings. KB/TK Islam Al Ikhlas is located on the east side. SD and SMP Islam Al Ikhlas are on the west side. There is also a shop under Koperasi Syariah Ikhlas Sejahtera. It provides basic necessities and school supplies.
Masjid Jami Al Ikhlas stands as a testament to a shared vision. It embodies the spirit of community. It began with a simple desire. It aimed to create a space for faith and fellowship. Today, it continues to serve as a center. It is a center for worship and community enrichment in Cipete.
