Hidden within Jakarta’s bustling Rawamangun district, Masjid Hikmatul Ilmi has been a cornerstone of the Universitas Ibnu Chaldun (UIC) community since its establishment around 1982-1983. The mosque’s story is intertwined with the university’s relocation from Senen Raya to Jalan Pemuda l Kav. 97. This move was a consequence of Jakarta’s urban development, which transformed Senen into a bustling business district. Masjid Hikmatul Ilmi served the UIC community faithfully for 35 years, a testament to its enduring presence. By 2018, however, the mosque’s structure, never renovated or rebuilt, had weathered the passage of time. More than just a place of worship for students and staff, Masjid Hikmatul Ilmi embraced the local community. The original structure, however, could no longer accommodate the growing congregation. Recognizing the mosque’s vital role, UIC’s leadership, including Bapak Musni Umar and H. Edy Haryanto SH.,MH, initiated the construction of a new Masjid Hikmatul Ilmi. The vision extended beyond simply expanding the prayer space. The new mosque aims to become a center for character education for both students and the community, fostering piety and a love for Indonesia.
