Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Jakarta, a beacon of faith stands tall: Masjid Bhaitul Ghafur. Originally, the site of this sacred space was a bustling soccer field known as Lapangan Guhang. In 2010, driven by the community’s aspirations, the Aceh Barat Daya regency government transformed this field into a magnificent mosque. Masjid Bhaitul Ghafur sits on a sprawling 2.4-hectare plot, facing a picturesque row of hills. Nearby, the Krueng Beukah river flows serenely. This architectural marvel has become an iconic symbol of religious tourism in the region, affectionately known as Breuh Sigupai. Masjid Bhaitul Ghafur’s design draws inspiration from the Middle East, with four towering minarets gracing each corner. A majestic gold-plated dome crowns the center, complemented by four smaller domes. The mosque is conveniently located near the Tugu Simpang Cerana monument in Blangpidie’s city center, just a kilometer away. Its strategic position along the alternative route between Blangpidie and Nagan Raya makes it easily accessible for visitors. The mosque’s captivating design, painted in laurel green and dark gray, is truly unique. Twelve entrances welcome worshippers from all directions, supported by 24 sturdy pillars. The two-story structure boasts a spacious 60×80 meter layout. The first floor houses an auditorium for the mosque’s youth activities. It also accommodates the offices of the Islamic Syariat and Dayah Education Agency, the Masjid Agung UPTD Secretariat, Baitul Mal, and the Mosque Prosperity Agency. The second floor is dedicated to prayer, with a capacity of 5,000 worshippers. The cool granite flooring and intricate Islamic ornaments, adorned with calligraphy, enhance the serene atmosphere. Ablution facilities are conveniently located on the ground floor, with separate areas for men and women. The enclosed bathrooms are positioned further away to maintain the purity of the ablution area. The expansive courtyard of Masjid Bhaitul Ghafur features beautiful graded granite paving. Ample parking space is available, paved with blocks. A mesmerizing, colorful fountain graces the center of the courtyard, its illuminated jets of water creating a captivating spectacle at night. This breathtaking backdrop is a favorite spot for visitors to capture memorable photos. Masjid Bhaitul Ghafur’s beauty draws locals and visitors alike, offering a place of tranquility and spiritual reflection. People from neighboring regions, such as Nagan Raya, Aceh Barat, and Aceh Selatan, frequently visit this magnificent mosque, inaugurated in 2020. Its fame has spread beyond Aceh, attracting tourists from far and wide. Masjid Bhaitul Ghafur has quickly become more than just a place of worship; it has become a cherished destination and a symbol of pride for the Abdya community.
