Gazing up at the majestic Masjid Baitul Izza, one can’t help but feel a sense of awe. This mosque isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a symbol of integrity, a testament to the connection between the earthly and the divine. Masjid Baitul Izza stands proudly within the Bank Indonesia complex, its grandeur mirroring the might of the bank itself. The name, Baitul Ihsan, translates to “the house of those who believe that every action, step, and thought in life is always watched over by Allah.” This reflects the integrity expected of the bank’s leaders and employees. The mosque’s design is simple yet profound. A perfect square forms its base, rising to a semi-circle where the dome rests. Masjid Baitul Izza welcomes worshippers from all directions, except from the direction of the qibla. This open access symbolizes the welcoming nature of Allah’s house. The exterior, predominantly gray marble, exudes exclusivity. Vertical lines accent the structure, representing the connection between humanity and the Creator. Horizontal lines symbolize the equal relationship between fellow humans. The bronze entrance doors are a work of art, adorned with plant motifs. The words “Allah” and “Muhammad” grace the right and left sides, respectively. A kerawang wall encircles the entrance, its arched top creating a transparent gateway. The dome is the most dominant feature. Covered in blue and cream geometric-patterned ceramics, it creates a strong visual accent. Inside, a plaza behind the main prayer hall is encircled by a walkway leading to the basement. Here, functional rooms and ablution areas await. The main prayer hall spans two floors. The ground floor covers 1,087 square meters. A mezzanine level of 596 square meters encircles the main prayer space. Four main columns support the dome’s roof, connected by beams decorated with Islamic patterns. Calligraphy from Surah An-Nur verse 35 and Asma’ul Husna adorn the base of the dome. The dome itself represents the celestial sphere, the universe created by Allah. Windows allow natural light to filter in, symbolizing the “Nur” (light) that illuminates the prayer hall. This reminds worshippers that they seek guidance from the Creator. The main hall is magnificent, dominated by gray ceramics on the floor and walls. The air conditioning adds to the sense of grandeur and comfort. Masjid Baitul Izza is more than just a mosque within a bank complex. It is an oasis of peace, a reminder of faith’s importance, even in the midst of the bustling financial world.
