Clutching my grandmother’s worn prayer beads, I first entered Masjid AT Tauhid. It was a modest structure then. Masjid AT Tauhid in Jakarta held a special significance for our family. My grandmother, a devout Muslim, instilled in us the importance of this place. She often spoke of the solace she found within its walls. The Masjid AT Tauhid wasn’t always in its current location. One particular Masjid AT Tauhid, located in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta Utara, had to be relocated. This mosque, with its history intertwined with the nearby tomb of “Mbah Priuk,” a revered local figure, was situated near a planned toll road. An agreement was reached to move the mosque to a new location near Koja Hospital, ensuring its preservation. This act demonstrated the respect for both development and religious heritage. Masjid AT Tauhid, like many mosques, serves as a vital community hub. It’s a place for prayer, reflection, and gathering. It’s a testament to the enduring power of faith and community. The act of visiting any mosque, including Masjid AT Tauhid, offers a chance for introspection. It’s a reminder of our mortality and the importance of spiritual connection, regardless of our specific beliefs.
