Masjid At Taqwa is easily recognized. Its white exterior shines brightly. A large blue-green mosaic dome sits atop the structure. A tall minaret graces its right side. Lush trees and gardens with yellow flowers surround the mosque. These beautiful plants attract worshipers daily. Prayers are offered from Subuh to Isya.
The mosque’s parking area is vast. It stretches around half of the 3000 square meter area. This ensures ample space for the many visitors.
Ustaz Ishaq Ismail is the Chairman of the DKM Masjid At Taqwa. He explained the mosque’s humble beginnings. It started as a small musala in 1976. Back then it accommodated only 300 people. Generous tax officials in the Kemanggisan complex contributed to its growth. They helped transform it into the grand mosque it is today.
The musala officially became Masjid At Taqwa on May 20 1977. It was then authorized for Friday prayers.
In 1985 Masjid At Taqwa underwent a complete renovation. This transformation resulted in the magnificent mosque we see now. The renovation addressed the community’s needs. Residents in the Kemanggisan tax complex struggled to find adequate worship space.
Previously residents borrowed a kindergarten hall for Tarawih prayers. They also needed it for prayers involving large groups. This arrangement became difficult for the children’s learning.
Around 1972 and 1973 Al-Azhar Kebayoran Baru established a madrasah. It allowed children from the tax complex to study religion. This further highlighted the need for a larger worship space. The community then agreed to convert the musala into a mosque. This provided a dedicated space for religious practice and learning.
Today Masjid At Taqwa accommodates up to 2000 worshipers. The Taqwa Bhakti foundation manages the mosque. It is a popular place for government officials to worship. Tax officials Religious Affairs Ministers and Finance Ministers often visit.
Masjid At Taqwa has grown significantly since its early days. It meets the religious needs of the community. It also serves as a place of pride and unity. The story of Masjid At Taqwa reflects the community’s dedication. It shows their commitment to faith and fellowship.
