Isn’t Masjid Asy-Syuhada more than just a building. It embodies Jakarta’s spirit. Let’s explore its story. Masjid Asy-Syuhada stands proudly on Jl. Lodan Raya No. 6 Jati Plogadung Jakarta Timur. It began in 1961 on land donated by Alm. H. Gateng bin Saumin. This original plot was about 432 square meters.

In 1997, Masjid Asy-Syuhada expanded. Land was purchased from residents nearby. The mosque’s area grew to approximately 1125 square meters. Construction continued in 2008. By then, the land area had reached 1217 square meters. Physical construction started on January 17, 2009.

By November 2010, Masjid Asy-Syuhada had a new three-story building. It covered roughly 1,500 square meters. The first floor serves as a public hall. The second floor is the main prayer area. The third floor hosts Friday prayers and classes for Madrasah Diniyah “Ruhul Syuhada”.

The construction of Masjid Asy-Syuhada was officially approved. Building Permit No. 04952/ IMB/ 1997 was issued on July 1, 1997. The Governor of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta authorized it.

In 2001, the Syuhada Foundation dedicated the land and building. They gave it to Masjid Asy-Syuhada. The Chairman of Masjid Asy-Syuhada received it as Nazir. Following this dedication, a Waqf certificate was requested. Certificate No. 2/ Jati was in the name of Masjid Asy-Syuhada.

The existing management and physical structure were already functioning. It became necessary to create bylaws. These guidelines would help manage and develop the mosque. Masjid Asy-Syuhada continues to serve its community. Its growth reflects its importance to the local people.
