Gagasan for a grand mosque took root in 1991. This idea led to the construction of the Masjid Raya Al Musyawarah. This impressive structure stands in Kelapa Gading Jakarta.
Masjid Al Musyawarah is more than just a place of worship. It is a testament to community spirit. Zaelani Zein and H. Sjamhudi of PT Sumarecon Agung spearheaded its construction. Their vision materialized quickly. The mosque was completed and inaugurated on February 27 1992. Governor Wiyogo Atmodarminto officiated the ceremony.
Spanning 2.2 hectares the Masjid Al Musyawarah boasts a building area of 16915 square meters. Its architecture subtly nods to Javanese design. The layered pyramid-shaped dome is a distinctive feature. It is reminiscent of traditional Javanese mosques.
The Masjid Al Musyawarah’s exterior presents two main structures. There is a prayer hall and a multipurpose building. A minaret stands on the northeast side. Its design is simple focusing on functionality. It serves its purpose well for the call to prayer.
Corridors connect the buildings. They provide access from the prayer hall to the multipurpose room. They also lead to the ablution area and toilets. Verandas surround the prayer hall except on the west side. These spaces offer a resting spot for worshippers after prayers.
Inside the Masjid Al Musyawarah the prayer hall is spacious. A plush red carpet covers the floor. Marble-clad pillars adorned with ornaments support the structure. They add to the hall’s grandeur.
A designated area separates male and female worshippers. The Masjid Al Musyawarah ensures comfort for all. The interior roof maintains a simple yet sturdy appearance. A stained-glass window in the center provides natural light.
Marble predominantly covers the walls. Wood and glass accents appear in the windows and doors. The front section features mosque-specific ornaments. These include star motifs. Shelves house the Quran. Air conditioners provide a comfortable environment for worshippers in the Masjid Al Musyawarah.
Calligraphic art enhances the room’s beauty. It displays Asmaul Husna and Quranic verses. These are placed around the upper sections of the hall in Masjid Al Musyawarah. The mihrab is centrally located. A simple space accommodates the imam who leads prayers. A wooden mimbar stands to its right.
The Masjid Al Musyawarah is well-managed. Cleanliness and comfort are prioritized. Islamic propagation activities occur regularly. Study sessions are scheduled. These are displayed on notice boards for all to see.
During Ramadan the Masjid Al Musyawarah hosts special events. Tarawih prayers are led by both local and international imams. The Masjid Al Musyawarah provides free iftar meals. These meals serve between 500 and 700 people daily. The mosque also holds open examinations for its Tahfidz program participants.
The Masjid Al Musyawarah plans a Tahfidz Parade. This event will showcase the skills of students. They have been nurtured within the mosque. The parade coincides with Nuzulul Quran.
The Masjid Al Musyawarah stands as a beacon of faith. It also is a symbol of community in Kelapa Gading.
